It’s 2015, so I’ll forgive some of you youngins for not knowing who Jerramy Stevens is. He played tight end for the Washington Huskies at the turn of the century, and was on their last Rose Bowl-winning team in 2000. He was a first round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2002, and played nine seasons in the NFL. During his career — both college and the NFL — Stevens also made a name for himself off the field thanks to multiple run-ins with the law. In 2000, he was accused of raping a girl at a fraternity party at UW. Subsequent offenses over the years involved DUIs and reckless driving arrests, including one incident where he crashed his car into a retirement home. A marijuana possession charge in 2010 essentially ended his career. Since then, he’s been simply known as Hope Solo’s husband.
Stevens and Solo were pulled over in Los Angeles Monday morning after police noticed their vehicle swerving on the road. According to TMZ, Solo was belligerent and nearly arrested for disorderly conduct. One source claimed both Stevens and Solo tried to pull the “do you you know who I am?” move, which is never a good idea, even if the cops do know who you are. Stevens refused a breathalyzer and police issued a warrant for a blood test at a local hospital.
The incident came just days after Solo was cleared of charges stemming from a domestic dispute involving her nephew and sister. Stevens’ last run-in with the law came in 2012, when he was arrested for a domestic violence incident against Solo. The case was eventually dropped.
