Throughout his longtime stint as the head coach of the New England Patriots, legendary head coach Bill Belichick became known for his hard-nosed, controlling approach to leading an NFL team where he led and controlled nearly all aspects of the team and organization. But now that he’s gone, it sounds like new head coach is taking a shockingly different approach.
During a recent interview, New England Patriots veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett opened up about the way Jerod Mayo has been handing the team since taking over, revealing that Mayo has been trying to delegate leadership to the players instead of taking it all himself.
“He brings a lot of good energy,” Brissett said of Mayo’s coaching style according to Mike Reiss of ESPN. “The cool thing is you can tell he’s trying to make the players on the team run the team. Obviously, he’s the head coach and he sets the standard, but he definitely puts a lot of responsibility on us players. I like it.”
Obviously, this is a pretty shocking and jarring difference from the way that Belichick did things with the Patriots, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

We’ll certainly have to see how this all works out for the Patriots.
