Jerod Mayo is taking over as the next head coach of the New England Patriots, replacing the legendary Bill Belichick who led the team to six Super Bowl championships during his time leading the organization. But even if Mayo does not have anywhere near the same experience as Belichick, it sounds like he can connect with the players in quite a unique way.
This week, new Patriots running back Antonio Gibson had some very high praise for Jerod Mayo after signing with the team, making it clear that he connected with Mayo better than he has any other coach eh’s ever played for.
“Definitely a different vibe from a head coach, just from the one day I met him,” Gibson said according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.

“It sounded like he was talking to one of the guys. I feel like that’s something that might be a positive thing in the locker room for him to be able to relate and communicate like that, and kind of understanding both sides of it. Also, he showed my daughter a helluva time, brought her into the office and treated her with love. I appreciated that, for sure, especially the first time meeting him.”
We’ll have to see how this translates to performance on the field.
