The Packers demolished their second-straight opponent on Sunday. One week after rolling over the Bears 55-14, Green Bay topped 50 again in a surprisingly easy 53-20 destruction of the Eagles. Philly wide receiver Jeremy Maclin didn’t sugarcoat his feelings after the game and while discussing the beatdown, he managed to work the Oakland Raiders into his remarks (via Andy Schwartz of CSNPhilly.com):
We got our ass kicked. It’s the National Football League, man. The way we played today it wouldn’t matter if we played Oakland, who hasn’t won a game yet. They would’ve beat the hell out of us too.
It’s an unfortunate development for the Raiders, who managed to keep their game in San Diego very close, even getting the ball down seven in the closing seconds with a chance to tie. Instead their embarrassing futility was once again thrust onto the national stage after a game in which half of their team actually played decent.
