Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the league, earning a big contract extension last offseason. But it seems he is now making a pretty significant change for himself this offseason in terms of his leadership approach.
During a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson opened up a little bit about how Jalen Hurts has become more of a vocal leader this offseason, saying that Hurts as “gone out of his way to connect with his teammates” and grow as a leader in the locker room.
“Just this offseason, he’s really done a good job of bonding with his teammates,” Johnson said according to Pro Football Talk. “I feel like the connection has definitely grown. A really big offseason. The work ethic has never been an issue. Tremendous worker. But, just becoming a more vocal leader and, whenever he speaks, guys listen up.”
Obviously, the Eagles had a disappointing collapse down the stretch last season as they lost six of their last seven games, including a playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round. We’ll have to see if Hurt’s change in leadership approach can help the team reach its goal this upcoming season.
