Houston Texans defensive end and football deity J.J. Watt doesn’t sound like he’s especially excited about the prospect of being a star for HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ series.
On a recent podcast hosted by Dan Patrick, Watt seemed very lukewarm over the fact that the Houston Texans were selected to be the subject of the upcoming ‘Hard Knocks’ season.
“I don’t think there’s many players that would vote for it,” Watt said, with all the subtly of a J.J. Watt quarterback sack. “I prefer to focus on the football.”
Of course, this isn’t surprising in the least. Watt’s life mantra might as well be “I prefer to focus on football.” Still, Watt has proven that he can hold his own in the world of entertainment. I doubt that some ‘Hard Knocks’ cameras will distract Watt or the Texans much at all.
And if Watt is THAT worried about some cameras affecting the Texans’ preparation for the season, he can rest assured that past participants in the HBO series did not see their performance decline after being on the program.
The five most recent teams to appear on Hard Knocks have improved their won-loss record in the season that followed.
