The Indianapolis Colts already have a starting quarterback with Anthony Richardson returning for his second season after missing the majority of his rookie seasons after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury, but the team is bringing in a veteran quarterback to add some important depth behind him.
According to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Indianapolis Colts have decided to bring in Joe Flacco, who was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year after leading the Cleveland Browns to the playoffs this season.
“Former Browns QB and NFL Comeback Player of the Year winner Joe Flacco reached agreement with the Indianapolis Colts, per sources. It’s a one-year deal worth up to $8.7 million, including $4.5 million guaranteed. Flacco to Indy,” Schefter said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, Flacco is not expected to start initially for the team, but he will serve as a capable and veteran backup for Richardson, who suffered multiple injuries in just a few games last season and takes more hits than most quarterbacks due to his dual-threat ability.
If Richardson does suffer another injury, Flacco will be able to fill in for the Colts.
