After quarterback Jordan Love emerged as an immediate star for the Green Bay Packers last season in his first year as a starter, the two sides are now looking for a long-term contract that will keep him with the team for the foreseeable future. And it sounds like both sides are confident they will reach a deal.
During a recent appearance on 97.3 The Game, Green Bay Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst gave an update on the Jordan Love negotiations, explaining that the good part of the situation is that “both parties want the same thing,” which certainly makes things easier.
“We’re in those conversations right now,” Gutekunst said according to Pro Football Talk. “I think the nice part about this is none of these things are easy or fast, but both parties want the same thing. We’d like to get this thing done before training camp, for sure, and both parties want to get a contract extension done. I think that stability at that position really allows you to have some security with the way we build our team. We’re looking forward to getting that done, but it never goes fast.”
It’s not clear whether or not the deal will get done before the start of the 2024 season, but it is clear that both sides want him in Green Bay for the foreseeable future.
