New York Giants owner John Mara has made it no secret that he is open to the idea of his team bringing in a quarterback with their first selection in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. And on Thursday, reports emerged that the team appears to be looking into a number of the top quarterback prospects.
Washington Huskies product Michael Penix Jr. was amongst the top quarterbacks in all of college football this past season, leading his team to the CFP National Championship appearance.
Meanwhile, UNC quarterback Drake Maye has been consistently praised by draft experts for his film over the past few years. And while the team success wasn’t exactly there for him at the collegiate level, most scouts see that he has a skill set that could translate well to the NFL level.
The Giants appear to be interested in looking into both Maye and Penix Jr. a bit closer. Giants head coach Brian Daboll was notably at Penix’s Pro Day at the University of Washington on Thursday. And according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafalo, the Giants will be bringing in Maye for a private workout in the next few days.

If the Giants want to select Maye in the draft, they would likely need to trade up for him. They currently have the No. 6 pick in the draft, and he will likely be gone before their selection.
However, Penix Jr. could very well be in the mix for the team with their current pick should they like what they see at his Pro Day.
Regardless, it seems very clear that the team could be in on selecting a quarterback near the top of the draft. The only question now that remains is which quarterback prospect it may be.
