The New York Jets did not look particularly good on the offensive side of the ball during their Monday Night showdown with the Los Angeles Chargers, managing just six points in the 27-6 loss. And star wide receiver Garrett Wilson did not hold back on the team’s offensive struggles.
The Jets have not been dominant on the offensive side of the ball all season, ranking just No. 30 in the league in scoring offense with just 16.5 points per game, ahead of only the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. And Garrett Wilson is not happy about it, calling the offensive performances “inexcusable.”
“It’s inexcusable, man, and it’s getting to the point where it’s disappointing,” Wilson said according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. “I hate coming off the field, looking our defense in the eyes and knowing that we have to send them back out there after three-and-out. Them boys are my dogs and they come out and ball. They put us in a great position. It’s time for us to start returning the favor, man. It’s time. We got to figure it out.”
While the offense has struggled, the Jets defense has played so well that the team still has a 4-4 record and is decidedly in playoff contention even with one of the worst offenses in the league.
