Owners of Phil Dawson
Rooting for/against fantasy football kickers is pure idiocy, yet they remain an integral part of every team, especially on a Monday night when you are down 10-plus points. Niners kicker Phil Dawson nailed a 54-yarder midway through the 2nd quarter against St. Louis, but following three crappy extra points, he had the opportunity for two more field goals that would have given many owners a Week 6 win…except his head coach yanked those opportunities with two 4th down attempts.
Jim Harbaugh opted for a 4th down try at the Rams goal line, costing owners three easy points, and also choose to forego a 51-yard field goal late in the game with another 4th down attempt, both of which failed.
It’s tough to argue that owners get screwed via kickers because the concept remains helplessly impossible to predict but Phil Dawson owners truly did get the boot this week.
