Maurice Jones-Drew
Old Team: Jacksonville Jaguars
New Team: Oakland Raiders
It is stunning that MJD is only two years removed from a monster 2011 season in which he nearly eclipsed the 2,000 total yard mark and found the endzone 11 times. The new Oakland Raiders might have the No. 1 job but his fantasy value is completely undefined.
Ranked between 20-40 positionally and being selected from the 6th to the 11th round in all formats, Jones-Drew would be a great depth option or stretch at the flex position but do not tab him as your No. 2 RB, unless you’re stacked at WR and have a top five option at RB. His contract of 3-years, $7.5 million in Oakland doesn’t scream must-start but with Darren McFadden struggling to stay healthy (missed 19 games since 2011) and effective (3.3 yards per rush since 2012), MJD isn’t a bad option at the right price.
Proceed with caution with the former fantasy stud, but don’t be afraid to pull the trigger in the late rounds if everyone else is scared off.
