The Miami Dolphins have had one of the more disappointing seasons in the NFL this year.
Despite entering the season expecting to compete for a Super Bowl, Miami sits at 2-6 entering its Monday night contest against the Los Angeles Rams. The Dolphins especially struggled to get into an offensive rhythm during a tough stretch when quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was on the injured reserve list due to a head injury.
It’s not the first serious head injury that Tagolvaila has suffered in his career, and many thought that it’d be in the quarterback’s best interests to prioritize his health and walk away from the sport.
Nevertheless, Tagovailoa has decided to continue playing and is even opting against using one of the guardian caps that many players use to help guard against head injuries.
However, one NFL expert is advising the team to shut its star quarterback down.
“Two tight losses have practically ended their season. Does it make sense to keep Tua Tagovailoa on the field when you’re out of contention?” asked Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon.
“If the goal is a Super Bowl and that’s not realistic, maybe you have to consider letting him rest and pursue more treatment to prevent potential future injuries.”
Should the Dolphins continue to slide in the standings, it’ll be interesting to see how they elect to handle the situation.
