The San Diego Union Tribune is reporting that Chargers wide receiver Eddie Royal left practice in an ambulance today.
During an 11-on-11 drill, Royal caught a pass and impacted the ground hard, experiencing shortness of breath shortly thereafter. Royal was sitting partially upright and was responsive when he was taken away, suggesting that the hospital visit is a precautionary move.
In any case, the Chargers simply can’t afford to lose yet another wide receiver. Malcom Floyd and Denario Alexander have already been lost to long injuries and losing Royal would further cement the Chargers receiving corps as the most depleted and weak in the NFL.
Let’s just hope Eddie’s going to be okay.
UPDATE:
Chargers announced WR Eddie Royal sustained a bruised lung Saturday and also is being evaluated for a concussion.
