The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday. The Eagles have looked like one of the most dominant teams in the NFL this season when quarterback Jalen Hurts is healthy, as he and running back Saquon Barkley form a nearly unstoppable tandem for defenses to have to deal with.
Unfortunately, Hurts’ status for Saturday has been up in the air, as he has missed the Eagles’ previous two games after suffering a concussion against the Washington Commander. The uncertainty around the quarterback situation has left fans worried about the Eagles’ chances in the playoffs.
Now, it looks like there’s some clarity on the situation.
The Eagles announced on Tuesday that they are waiving quarterback Ian Book. While on the surface, it may look as if Philadelphia is just losing a quarterback that could suit up in a backup role for the Eagles, the move likely indicates that Hurts will be healthy enough to go and they can afford to lose an extra quarterback and fill the roster spot with a position of need.

Fans reacted to the roster move on social media.
“That has to suck for him. Doesn’t we just bring him in like a week ago? He probably knew the deal but I do feel for him,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“As a notre dame fan I hope Book works out for someone in the NFL,” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Hurts is 100% by the time Saturday rolls around.
