The Philadelphia Eagles took the next step in getting back to the Super Bowl in hopes of winning the second one in franchise history with Sunday’s victory over the Green Bay Packers. Despite quarterback Jalen Hurts struggling on the day, the defense turned in an impressive performance to keep Green Bay out of arm’s reach throughout the contest.
Unfortunately, a critical part of that defense went down with an injury, and now the thinking is that it’s a significant one, according to one prominent NFL insider.
“Eagles LB Nakobe Dean, who was carted off during last night’s playoff win, is feared to have suffered a significant knee injury that would knock him for the playoffs, sources tell me and (Mike Garofolo).
“He’ll have an MRI this morning to deliver the full news. Dean emerged as a starter this season with 128 tackles, including 9 for a loss,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Monday.

Fans reacted to the brutal news on social media.
“This is a bigger deal than a lot of fans would like to admit. Don’t believe me? Please watch the tape of who missed a tackle on Jacobs td run or letting up multiple Texas route checkdowns across the middle,” one fan added.
“Time to have trotter step up . This is just a big reminder that eagles need to resign Baun to a 3 year deal,” someone else added.
“Really sucks for Nakobe. Thought he was having an excellent year. Big loss for our defense,” wrote someone else.
“his first full season and this how his first playoff game goes. brutal,” added one fan.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Eagles adapt if Dean is indeed out for the remainder of the playoffs.
