The Denver Broncos are in need of a new starting quarterback this offseason after parting ways with former starting quarterback Russell Wilson this offseason. But it doesn’t sound like the team is planning to bring in a new starter at the position, after all.
According to a report from Mike Klis of 9 News in Denver, the Denver Broncos “seem to be leaning toward” rolling with Jarrett Stidham as their starting quarterback next season after the departure of Russell Wilson.
“The Broncos seem to be leaning toward giving Stidham the edge as the No. 1 quarterback and also using their No. 12 overall draft pick to take their quarterback for the future,” Klis wrote for 9 News last week.
The Broncos turned to Stidham as their starting quarterback at the end of the season after they chose to bench Wilson for the final two games. In those two games, Stidham completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 496 yards and two touchdowns along with one interception, leading the Broncos to a 1-1 record as a starter.
If the Broncos do elect to roll with Stidham as their starting quarterback for the upcoming season, it will be interesting to see how he performs in the role.
