The Detroit Lions have not hosted a home playoff game in three decades, setting up for quite an atmosphere for the city when they play host to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. And it sounds like this is exactly what head coach Dan Campbell was dreaming of when he accepted the head coaching position with the team.
During a press conference this week, Dan Campbell expressed some high expectations for what he thinks the atmosphere will be like during Sunday night’s game in Detroit against the Rams, believing it will provide clear homefield advantage for his team.
“Three years ago, thinking about what this was going to be like and what it could be like, and now it’s here,” Campbell said according to Pro Football Talk. “So I know exactly what it’s going to look like. I’ve seen it in my head. It’s going to be different than anybody’s seen. I think this is going to be one of the most electric environments, atmospheres that you’re going to find, and I think it’s going to be an advantage.”
It’s been a long time coming for Lions fans after last winning the division in 1993. We’ll have to see how they perform now that they’ve made it this far.
