Throughout his seven seasons in the NFL, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was a star, leading the entire league in rushing twice and making the Pro Bowl three times. And it sounds like the team is bringing him back.
According to a report from Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Dallas Cowboys are signing Ezekiel Elliott as a replacement for Tony Pollard, who left the team this offseason.
“He’s back: The #Cowboys have agreed to terms with their former star RB Ezekiel Elliott, per me and @TomPelissero, as the ex-rushing champ now gives Dallas a proven weapon in the backfield. The two sides met in person on Wednesday, and pending physical, it’s happening,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

“Reunion: Three-time Pro Bowl RB Ezekiel Elliott agreed to terms with the #Cowboys pending physical, sources tell me and @RapSheet. With Tony Pollard gone and Elliott coming off a strong finish to his lone season in New England, it’s time to Feed Zeke again in Dallas,” NFL insdier Tom Pelissero said.

Obviously, this is some pretty significant news, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.
Ezekiel Elliott is coming off of his career worst rushing season (ypc, yards after contact, one 15-yard run).
He was horrific in pass protection (most pressures allowed among RBs, 98th of 99 RBs in PFF pass-block grade).
At this stage he’s more of a problem than solution.

The Cowboys have signed Ezekiel Elliott to a deal really, really, early in the morning.
If I had a nickel for everytime that's happened, I'd have two nickels.
That's not a lot, but it's weird it's happened twice

In October, the Cowboys played a video montage for Ezekiel Elliott’s return to AT&T Stadium when Patriots visited. It wasn’t over for them. It’s still not over.
Dalvin Cook also was discussed internally at length. pic.twitter.com/Wt4Muy8SMl https://t.co/R0qQNGFHZX

With Ezekiel Elliott's expected re-signing with the Cowboys, which NFL Media first reported should happen today following a physical, he sits atop a depth chart that still has room to evolve.
Cowboys' backfield for now: Elliott, Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, Hunter Luepke, Royce…

It will certainly be interesting to see how Elliott performs this season.
