When a star quarterback is entering the final year of his contract with a team, that quarterback’s contract situation is typically the highest priority for the team. But that does not seem to be the case for the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott.
According to a report from Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, the Dallas Cowboys are making a pretty brutal move against Dak Prescott are prioritizing the contract of wide receiver CeeDee Lamb over Prescott because Lamb is expected to hold out from training camp while Prescott is not.
“The good news is the Cowboys made Lamb their No. 1 priority. According to a person with knowledge of the front office’s thinking, the Cowboys are putting Lamb’s contract extension talks ahead of quarterback Dak Prescott’s,” Watkins wrote for the Dallas Morning News this week.
“Prescott is expected to be on the field next Thursday for the first training camp practice of the summer. You can finalize Prescott’s expected massive contract later with the understanding he’s coming to work.”
If the team is not able to work out a new contract for Prescott in the near future, he is set to become a free agent next offseason.
