Dak Prescott Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Dak Prescott is heading into the final year of his contract with the Dallas Cowboys, and it sounds like he is well aware of the possibility that this could be his final season in Dallas.

During a recent press conference as the team heads into training camp, Dak Prescott discussed the possibility that he could ultimately leave the Cowboys, pointing out that many star quarterbacks he has looked up to played for multiple teams in their careers.

“At the end of the day, it’s a business,” Prescott said via Jett Beachum of CBS News Texas. “I want to be here, but, when you look up, all the great quarterbacks I watched played for other teams. My point in saying that is that’s not something to fear. That may be a reality for me one day. It may not be my decision. That’s the freedom that I have.”

It sounds like Prescott is trying his best to not worry about the situation.

“Be where your feet are, make the most of it, be confident in yourself, make your team better,” Prescott said. “I love my teammates, I love that locker room, I love everything about being out here in Oxnard and being a Dallas Cowboy. That’s what allows me to be free and focused and understand that — Who knows what comes?”

It’s pretty jarring to hear Prescott talk about the possibility of leaving Dallas after spending his entire career as the Cowboys starting quarterback, and his comments led to a lot of reactions on social media.

We’ll have to see what his future holds.
