Dak Prescott Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Dak Prescott is heading into the final year of his contract with the Dallas Cowboys, but in a pretty brutal turn of events, it doesn’t sound like a new contract is the first priority for the team this offseason.

According to a report from Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, the Dallas Cowboys are prioritizing the contractor of star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb before training camp rather than Dak Prescott.

“The good news is the Cowboys made Lamb their No. 1 priority. According to a person with knowledge of the front office’s thinking, the Cowboys are putting Lamb’s contract extension talks ahead of quarterback Dak Prescott’s,” Watkins wrote for the Dallas Morning News this week.

Needless to say, it’s pretty brutal news for Prescott that he still does not have a new contract and the team is not prioritizing his contract negotiations, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

If Prescott and the Cowboys do not come to terms on a new contract, he will hit the market as a free agent next offseason and will be free to sign with any team that he wishes. We’ll have to see if the team can sign him to a new contract before then.
