The Dallas Cowboys are in the middle of a head coaching search that many weren’t expecting them to have to conduct. Shockwaves were felt across the NFL after Dallas and head coach Mike McCarthy decided to mutually part ways after they couldn’t find a solid starting point in contract extension talks.
Now, one name in particular is emerging as the Cowboys’ search stretches on, according to one prominent NFL insider.
“Cowboys now have completed an in-person interview with Brian Schottenheimer for their head coach position,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Fans reacted to the news that Dallas completed its final step toward a potential promotion of their current offensive coordinator on social media.
“There is a distinct difference to the approach nfl teams are taking in vetting HC candidates as they are being more deliberate in interviewing more prospects. These 2 or 3 people interviews of the past aren’t the norm this season,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“No Brian will not be hired by the Cowboys. The Cowboys will Hire Kellen Moore he has a great relationship with Dak. Now DC to me is up in the Air. It could go in a lot of different directions!” one fan added.
“Someone who Jerry knows he can control and then ship off and blame when the team fails, when he needs to hold himself accountable,” another fan added.
“If I was a Cowboys fan, I would be entering free agency the moment Jerry Jones hires Brian Schottenheimer (assuming that’s what actually happens),” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Schottenheimer gets the promotion.
