The important thing to remember when Tweeting at celebrities and athletes is that they, gulp, sometimes read and respond to them.
Poor @battman_returns found that out the hard way on Wednesday.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick did a little Twitter flexing following a workout.
1000 abs…. arm workout….. 10 min straight on the jump rope…. 2 hour study session in February….. that's what we call a recovery day!
— Colin Kaepernick (@Kaepernick7) February 18, 2015
In itself, it’s a pretty bland Tweet on Kaepernick’s day. Unfortunately, @battman_returns apparently saw “1000 abs” and skipped the rest of the Tweet because he Tweeted this to Kaep in response.
@Kaepernick7 @49ers ab workout won't help find open receiver #study

Oops. Somehow, the “2 hour study session” escaped the sight of our intrepid hot taker. Kaep came back firing.
@battman_returns are you illiterate or just ignorant? Read the tweet again better yet give me your breakdown of every defensive coverage
— Colin Kaepernick (@Kaepernick7) February 18, 2015
@battman_returns I want every players responsibility on every coverage if you can't do it mind your damn business clown!
— Colin Kaepernick (@Kaepernick7) February 18, 2015
Normally, that would be more than enough to win a Twitter fight. But Colin Kaepernick wasn’t looking to win a Twitter fight. He was looking to destroy his competition and ether him out of existence. Hence, Kaepernick landed this final blow (which needs to be enshrined in some Tweet museum someday).
@battman_returns you got 8 followers bruh your own family don't even want to know what you doin! Get better at life!

HAVE MERCY COLIN. THAT MAN (PRESUMABLY) HAS A FAMILY.
