Former NFL star Colin Kaepernick is admittedly a bit of a Grinch.
Appearing on Nessa Off Air, co-host Katrina B asked Kaepernick what he was getting his longtime girlfriend (and co-host of the podcast) Nessa Diad for Christmas.
“We don’t celebrate Christmas,” Kaepernick flatly stated.
Diab went on to further explain the unusual Christmas situation.
“No, I’ll tell you what. We don’t give each other gifts. I think for Colin and I… we just enjoy really great experiences with each other year-round,” she said.
Kaepernick previously revealed to Sporting News that Diab is a practicing Muslim, which would make sense as to why the couple wouldn’t celebrate Christmas.
“This is an open discussion that I have with many people, not just my woman. She is Muslim, her family is Muslim, I have great respect for them. I have great respect for people’s right to believe what they want to believe. And I don’t think anybody should be prosecuted or judged based on what their beliefs are.”
Kaepernick last played in the NFL in January 2017 with the 49ers. But he hasn’t given up his dream of returning the the NFL. He sent an open letter to the New York Jets earlier this season, begging to be signed to their practice squad.
The Jets made no such move. Kaepernick is a free agent to this day.
