The Cleveland Browns had to dip into their depth at the quarterback position last season after starting quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered an injury that required season-ending surgery. And it sounds like the team is making some pretty big moves this offseason to make sure they’re ready if that needs to happen again.
According to a report from Jake Trotter of ESPN, the Cleveland Browns have decided to add former Baltimore Ravens backup quarterback Tyler Huntley, adding yet another veteran quarterback to the team’s roster.
“The Cleveland Browns agreed to terms with former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley on a one-year contract for the veterans minimum salary, a source told ESPN on Sunday,” Trotter wrote for ESPN.
“The Browns now have three quarterbacks on their roster behind starter Deshaun Watson. Cleveland signed Jameis Winston last week to be Watson’s backup. The Browns also have Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who started three games as a rookie last season after being a fifth-round selection out of UCLA.”
Huntley has plenty of experience as a starter as he led the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs against the Cincinnati Bengals when starter Lamar Jackson was unable to play as a result of an injury.
We’ll have to see how the Browns’ depth chart shakes out this season.
