The Houston Texans have made some significant headway on paper when it comes to improving their roster from last season, bringing in a number of weapons to further help the development of second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud. And on Thursday, Stroud had some particularly complimentary comments about perhaps the biggest acquisition of the offseason for the Texans.

Former Buffalo Bills wideout Stefon Diggs has long been regarded as one of the best receiving threats in all of football, reaching the Pro Bowl in all four of his seasons in Buffalo.

However, in recent years, there has been plenty of speculation about Diggs’ relationship with Josh Allen perhaps being strained. And the Texans benefitted from this, landing Diggs in a trade for a 2025 second-round pick this offseason.

Adding a player like Diggs to an already promising young wide receiving corps consisting of second-year wideout Tank Dell and Nico Collins should make the Texans one of the more dynamic offenses in all of football this coming season.

Stroud spoke about his new teammate during the Texans’ first day of training camp, calling Diggs “really friendly” and saying it is “nice to have him around”.

“He’s somebody who loves the game and doesn’t cheat it, and that’s why he’s been successful, and I think he’ll continue that success,” Stroud said in his Thursday press conference, via Pro Football Talk. “I’m blessed enough to, hopefully, be a part of that. That’s some things that just stuck out to me. Just how personable he is, how relatable he is. He’s really friendly and very vocal, so it’s really nice to have him around.”

On paper, Diggs should really make the Texans a true contender in the AFC, if they weren’t considered that already after making the postseason this past season. But either way, Stroud certainly seems to appreciate his new teammate.
