Star running back Saquon Barkley decided to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles during free agency, but it sounds like Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was trying to lure him to Houston.
During a recent appearance on the New Heights podcast, Saquon Barkley said that he spoke to C.J. Stroud about possibly heading to Houston during free agency, and he was very interested in possibly signing with the Texans.
“Probably the team that had my first interest was Houston. I got to communicate with C.J. and a couple of those boys, but this was before when you could actually put offers on the table and talk to teams,” Barkley said on the New Heights podcast, according to the New York Post.
Ultimately, Barkley chose to sign with the Eagles instead, where he will stay in the division and face off against his former team, the New York Giants, twice every season.
It certainly would have been interesting to see one of the top running backs in the league unite with an exciting and talented young player like Stroud, but it will also be interesting to see how he performs with the Philadelphia Eagles this upcoming season as well.
