As New England Patriots begin their training camp in preparation for the upcoming season, it sounds like one of their key players is dealing with a health scare that ultimately sent him to the hospital.

On Sunday, the New England Patriots announced that defensive tackle Christian Barmore had been diagnosed with blood clots and was being treated at a hospital.

“Over the weekend, Christian Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots. He was appropriately treated by the doctors at Mass General Brigham, who tested, evaluated, and treated Christian,” the New England Patriots said in a statement on Sunday, via Adam Schefter.

“Our principal concern at this time is Christian’s health and wellbeing. Fortunately, Mass General Brigham provides some of the best healthcare in the world. While there is no current timetable for his return, we know Christian is getting tremendous care and we look forward to his full recovery,” the statement continued.

Needless to say, this rather horrible announcement led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Barmore joined the Patriots as a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Last season, he started six games for the Patriots last season. He finished the season with 64 total tackles 8.5 sacks, and 13 tackles for loss.
