Last year, Kansas City Chiefs superstar defensive lineman Chris Jones did not take part in the team’s training camp as he held out for a new contract. But even though there’s no reason for him to hold out due to a contract dispute this season, it sounds like he is still interested in skipping out on some practices.
During a recent interview, Chris Jones revealed that he has already had some conversations with Chiefs head coach Andy Reid about the possibility of skipping some of the team’s training camp practices given that he’s “a little older.”
“Listen man, I’ve already been talking to Andy about, ‘Let me skip out on training camp. I’m a little older, right?’” Jones said according to Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star. “I can feel it. I can feel when we have a day on training camp. Give me like two days off and one day on then, and we maybe can work something out, you know?”
Jones said that Reid “just looked at me” in response to his suggestion, so it’s not clear whether or not Reid will be willing to give him those rest days that he seems to desire.
