The Pittsburgh Steelers are massive underdogs heading into Saturday’s Wild Card round matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. It’s not hard to blame oddsmakers, as the Steelers have floundered to close the season, backing into the playoffs on a four-game losing streak.
If the Steelers want to have a shot at knocking off reigning MVP Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, they’ll need every weapon at their disposal.
It’s hard to argue there’s a more critical piece to Pittsburgh’s success than kicker Chris Boswell, who was the team’s leading scorer this year. In the first matchup between Pittsburgh and Baltimore, Boswell almost single-handedly won the game for the Steelers.
Boswell went a perfect 6-for-6 on field goal attempts in a game that the Steelers won 18-16 as the offense failed to register a single touchdown. Unfortunately, the Steelers lost Boswell during the practice week and his status for Saturday is up in the air.
“K Chris Boswell popped up on the injury report today and did NOT practice. He’s dealing with an illness,” reported Steelers Network on Twitter leading up to the game.

Fans reacted to the development on social media.
“Hopefully our best offensive weapon feels good for the game,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“He’s arguably the best player on this team. If he can’t play, they lose for sure,” one fan added.
“The real team mvp is cooked, we’re done for,” another fan wrote.
Hopefully, the Boswell recovers in time to help the Steelers make a run.
