Manning sits out the 2011 season, released by the Colts
Admittedly, this is the low-light of Manning’s career but one can’t look at Peyton’s career without mentioning the one year absence which would forever change the trajectory of two franchises (the Broncos and Colts). The Colts would go 2-14 in their one year without Peyton Manning, who had to have spinal fusion surgery, a procedure which didn’t guarantee that Manning would be able to play again. The Colts would release him the following year as the team would draft their quarterback of the future – Andrew Luck.
