Fifty-five. No one doubted Peyton Manning’s ability to throw touchdowns but Manning’s 55 touchdowns in the 2013 season was truly insane. It bested Tom Brady’s incredible 2007 season where Brady threw 51 with the help of Randy Moss and Wes Welker. As if that weren’t enough, Manning also broke the league record for most passing yards in a season with 5,477. Manning would also win the MVP award, his fifth, because that’s what happens when you systematically obliterate the NFL record books. Unfortunately for Peyton, his prolific season ran into the buzzsaw known as the “Legion of Boom” as Manning would go on to make the Super Bowl, before losing to the Seattle Seahawks.
