The Cleveland Browns would have a hard time having a hard time performing worse next season than they did in this one. In a year where many expected them to make a deep playoff run, the Browns finished 3-14 and earned the right to the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
However, one coach isn’t taking any chances and is stepping down from Cleveland’s staff before things can get any worse.
Assistant defensive line coach Jordan Thomas is departing for the college ranks, according to one prominent ESPN college football insider.
“Sources: Boston College is expected to hire Jordan Thomas as the school’s new defensive line coach. He comes from the Cleveland Browns, where he worked as the assistant DLine coach since 2022. He came highly recommended from Mike Vrabel, who worked with the Browns last year,” Pete Thamel reported on Thursday morning.
Thamel then followed up with some history on Thomas’ career both as a player and a coach.
“Thomas played at San Diego State and worked as the defensive line coach there from 2020-21. He also worked as an assistant coach at Mission Hills High School in California in 2016.”
It’s a massive loss for Cleveland, as Thomas was a major contributor to the massive success of Defensive Player of the Year candidate Myles Garrett.
It’ll be interesting to where head coach Kevin Stefanski looks to replace Thomas.
