As they enter a pivotal offseason, the Buffalo Bills are parting ways with a cornerstone of their defense.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bills are releasing cornerback Tre’Davious White. While Buffalo will designate him as a post-June 1 release, the 29-year-old will be eligible to sign with a new team as early as next week.
Originally selected with the No. 27 overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, the LSU product quickly established himself as one of the NFL’s top cornerbacks. In 2019, he earned first-team All-Pro honors after tying Stephon Gilmore and Anthony Harris with a league-high six interceptions, before earning second-team All-Pro honors and his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection in 2020.

Injuries, however, have hampered White’s play and availability in the years since, as he has appeared in just 21 regular-season games over the past three seasons, including 10 total in the last two years. His 2023 campaign was limited to just four regular-season appearances after he suffered a torn Achilles injury in Buffalo’s Week 4 win over the Miami Dolphins.
In releasing White, the Bills will reportedly save $10.2 million in cap space while taking a $6.2 million hit in dead money. White isn’t the only notable member of Buffalo’s secondary the Bills are parting ways with, as the team announced that it has released former All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer on Wednesday.
