The New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick are in the midst of an incredibly disappointing season as the team has the second-worst record in the entire league and the lowest-scoring offense in the NFL. The struggles have led to plenty of speculation that the team might decide to part ways with Belichick after the season with one report this week suggesting that the decision to fire Belichick has already been made – and Belichick was asked about it this week.

During an interview on the Arbella Early Edition program on Monday, NBC Sports Boston’s Tom E. Curran explained that he thinks that Patriots team owner Robert Kraft already decided to fire Bill Belichick after the team’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Nov. 12.

“When they came out of [the 10-6 loss to the Colts on Nov. 12 in] Germany, conversations I had that week made it very clear that a decision was made,” Curran said according to Boston.com. “They were going to play out the string, and at the end of the year, there would be a parting of the ways for a variety of reasons.”

Following this report, Belichick was asked about his job status with the New England Patriots. In typical Belichick fashion, he declined to give much detail.

“I’m getting ready for Kansas City,” Belichick said according to Mike Kadlick of WEEI.

The Patriots are coming off a 21-18 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers which ended a five-game losing streak. They will now host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday as they look to close the season out strong,  though they’ve already been eliminated from playoff contention.

Obviously, no decision about Belichick’s future will be official until it’s announced by the team, but it’s certainly safe to say that it doesn’t exactly look good for Belichick right now.
