Ahead of the Week 3 matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Washington Commanders, Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt made it a point to downplay the skills of Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. But when it came time to step onto the field, Daniels showed him, and everyone else that he is here to stay in the NFL.

Last week, Taylor-Britt was asked what he thought about Daniels. And he not only said that Commanders “don’t make him do a lot” in their offense, but he also called the offense itself a “college offense”.

“They don’t make him do a lot,” Taylor-Britt told reporters last week. “They keep it really simple for him. Nice college offense. [Kliff] Kingsbury’s the OC.” They love to move guys around here and there. But you know, just keeping it real simple for him. I heard his pass percentage is very high. But he’s only throwing short routes. Some intermediate stuff, quick throws.”

When it came time to take the field, Daniels showed that he is every bit the budding NFL star that he has shown flashes of early on in his rookie campaign. Not only did he lead his team to a 38-33 victory, but he also broke the NFL rookie record for completion percentage in a game in the process.

Naturally, fans did not forget what Taylor-Britt said before the game, taking to social media to roast him for his very clearly incorrect assessment of Daniels as a player.

These comments are going to be hard for Taylor-Britt to live down in the eyes of fans. But maybe next time, he’ll think twice about trash-talking someone who came into the league with as much promise as Daniels.
