Cincinnati Bengals star Tee Higgins is set to become a free agent in March and he is expected to be one of the top free agent wide receivers on the market this season. The Bengals have made it clear that they would like to keep him in Cincinnati and Higgins has said Cincinnati will be among his preferred places to sign. But the team is admitting it might not be easy.
This week, Cincinnati Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin addressed the situation regarding Tee Higgins, acknowledging that while the team would definitely like to bring Higgins back, the team does face some limitations with the salary cap.
“We like Ja’Marr. He’s in our long-term plans. He’s a high-level player in this league. And we want to keep those kinds of players on our team,” Tobin said according to the Cincinnati Bengals official team website. “I want Tee Higgins back. Everyone on our team would like Tee Higgins back. There’s a pie and there are things we can do and can’t do because of it. We’ll see.”
Obviously, the team hopes to have Higgins back next season after all he has contributed in recent seasons, but there’s a chance it just might not be possible.
