Atlanta Falcons helmets Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Falcons have been very active in revamping their quarterback position this offseason, bringing in veteran Kirk Cousins as their next starter on a four-year contract worth over $100 million before selecting Washingon Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 8 overall pick in the NFL Draft on Thursday night. And as it turns out, Penix wasn’t the only rookie quarterback they added to the roster.

Shortly after the NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons decided to sign another rookie quarterback, bringing in former Illinois Fighting Illini quarterback John Paddock as an undrafted rookie free agent.

Paddock is obviously not considered one of the top quarterback prospects in this year’s NFL Draft and was not a star in college, but he did show off plenty of potential this past season including one game against the Indiana Hoosiers in which he threw for 507 yards and four touchdowns to lead his team to victory.

It might not be the most high-profile quarterback signing, but it still led to a lot of reactions on social media.

Paddock is joining a quarterbacks room that already features Cousins, Penix, and Taylor Heinicke. It will be interesting to see whether or not he can earn a spot on the roster.
