The Arizona Cardinals have a pretty unique problem when it comes to their rookie superstar receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. – he likes to work a little bit too hard.
The Cardinals selected Marvin Harrison Jr. with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. And while many teams might be trying to get their rookies up to speed on what NFL workouts and practices look like, it sounds like the Cardinals have the opposite problem with Harrison.
“He does a lot extra, probably too much, I’m going to be fighting him about that,” Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said according to Pro Football Talk.
Gannon explained that in addition to the regular team workouts, Harrison will also come early, stay late, and work out on his own. While that is admirable, Gannon wants to make sure he’s not burnt out by the time the season starts.
“If we’re spaced out how many reps and the amount of workload he gets, and then he goes and runs 100 routes on the weekend, he might be dragging today. Now, he doesn’t drag, but I’m just talking about, I love extra work, but you’ve got to be smart about it. You’ve got to have a routine about what you’re doing,” Gannon said.
It’s a pretty unique problem. We’ll have to see if the Cardinals can get him to slow down a little bit.
