Arik Armstead played the first nine seasons of his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers, but he’s now headed to the Jacksonville Jaguars after he failed to come to terms on a contract extension with the Nines. And it sounds like he isn’t necessarily happy about how those talks went.
In a trailer for an episode of his “Third and Long” podcast, Arik Armstead called out the San Francisco 49ers as he claimed that he felt “extremely disrespected” by the way the team handled his contract situation.
“First off, I want to say I don’t have any animosity toward the organization — Kyle [Shanahan], John [Lynch], the York family,” Armstead says in the video. “I did feel extremely disrespected.”
The first episode of #ThirdAndLong Season 2 drops tomorrow.

Armstead said that the team did indeed give him an offer, but he muted the audio when he said the exact amount. He clearly did not seem to think that it was a fair offer, and he wanted the fans to know why he ultimately chose to sign with a different team instead.
“Nine years of me being there, the fans deserve to know what happened,” Armstead said. “You know, I had to make some decisions.”
Armstead will now provide a veteran presence to the Jacksonville Jaguars defensive line this upcoming season.
