Jon Bon Jovi is the focus of a New York Magazine feature this week, as the rocker continues his dogged pursuit to become owner of the Buffalo Bills. Buried in the piece — titled “Jon Bon Jovi is the Most Hated Man in Buffalo” — is an anecdote from former Bills star, and 2014 NFL Hall of Fame inductee, Andre Reed. Reed recently met with Matt Sabuda and Brian Cinelli, co-founders of the Buffalo Fan Alliance, and shared his thoughts on Bon Jovi’s interest in owning the team:
“Man, fuck Bon Jovi!” Reed said. “You might as well just take this city, throw it in the river, and let it go down Niagara Falls.”
During the conversation, which also included a comment about how the late Tim Russert, a noted Bills fan, would feel if Bon Jovi owned the team (“That guy would be throwing a fit.”), all attention turned to the bar’s television, where ESPN was reporting that LeBron James would be returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Naturally, ESPN turned to Cleveland’s second-most famous current athlete, Johnny Manziel, who had shared his reaction on Twitter:
YESSSSSSSS!! Couldn’t be happier for my guy @KingJames and the @cavs #Cleveland
— Johnny Manziel (@JManziel2) July 11, 2014
Upon seeing Manziel’s proclamation that LeBron was “my guy”, Reed apparently unleashed an epic anti-Manziel tirade:
“Who the fuck is Johnny Manziel?” Reed asked. “LeBron ain’t your guy! You’re not ‘Johnny Football.’ You’re ‘Johnny Rookie Bitch.’ ” Reed said he didn’t think a blue-collar town like Buffalo, which he thought wears an even truer shade of denim than Cleveland, would stand for Manziel’s antics. “They’d boo that motherfucker outta here,” he said. “The fans would put him in his place.”
Shots fired!
