Over the past two seasons, Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Amari Cooper has had the most productive years of his career and has emerged as one of the most dominant wide receivers in the game. And it sounds like he wants to be paid like it this offseason.
Amari Cooper is seeking a new contract from the Cleveland Browns and he skipped the team’s OTAs and mandatory minicamp the past few weeks as he negotiates that contract with the team. And it sounds like he is committed to fattening his bank account.
During a recent interview with the gaming company Betr, Cooper opened up about his desire for a new contract when he declined to race the interviewer, saying he didn’t want to “pull a hammy or something” with so much on the line financially. He then seemed to indicate that he is seeking more money from the Browns.
“I’m trying to get paid this year,” Cooper said during the interview according to Pro Football Talk.
With these words and his absence from team activities the past few weeks, Cooper is sending a pretty clear message to the Browns that he wants a new contract and a bigger paycheck.
