When it comes to whether or not Aaron Rodgers will play for the New York Jets during the preseason, it sounds like he and the team are not necessarily on the same page.
Earlier this week, New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh indicated that Aaron Rodgers it was his “instinct” that Aaron Rodgers would not play for the New York Jets during the preseason.
“My instinct is no, but I want to leave it open,” Saleh said according to New York Post. “That the third game is the one where we’re deciding.”
But apparently, Rodgers was not filled in on that decision. When Rodgers was asked about the comments from Saleh, he indicated that he had not heard anything like that from his head coach.
“News to me,” Rodgers said according to the New York Post.
It would make sense that the Jets would want to protect Rodgers considering the Achilles injury that derailed his entire season last year. At the same time, however, Rodgers has not seen in-game action in nearly a year as he recovered from the injury, so it might be beneficial to get him some live reps before the start of the season.
We’ll have to see what the Jets decide to do, and whether or not Rodgers is part of that decision-making process.
