During last night’s Ohio-Buffalo game, an referee called what might be the worst safety call in the history of football. Ohio quarterback Tyler Tettleton was flagged for a safety after scrambling out of the pocket to avoid a UB pass rush deep in his team’s own territory…except Tettleton managed to get rid of the ball well before Buffalo’s defenders could bring him down in the endzone.
As you can see in the video (above) and in the GIF (below), Tettleton throws the ball away at the four yard line…the FOUR yard line…well before the Buffalo players were able get their hands on him.
In the end I guess the call didn’t really matter, as Buffalo blew out Ohio 30-3…but worst safety call ever? Yeah, I’d say so.
