In what is either a cosmic coincidence or a questionably effective bit of trolling, the Utes announced on Thursday morning that they would be giving away Alex Smith big heads to the first 100 fans who showed up for the team’s home opener against Michigan.

Smith was Utah’s quarterback during his college years. He was also the San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback who largely struggled until former 49ers coach (and current Michigan head coach) Jim Harbaugh came along and righted the Niners’ship. Of course, Harbaugh decided to make Colin Kaepernick the 49ers starting quarterback after Smith suffered a concussion during the 2012 season and… the 49ers would make it to the Super Bowl as a result.
So yeah, probably not the most successful trolling attempt but the sight of a gang of big Alex Smith heads is funny enough to make up for it.
