Eat your heart out Oregon, your Pac-12 rival to the south unveiled some fresh new threads today for their November 15 game against Washington State. The uniforms are all black with UCLA’s trademark True Blue and gold trim around the numbers, shoulders, and helmet. The uniform also features slick gloves that highlight part of the L.A. skyline, including its trademark palm trees.
I know what you’re all thinking – UCLA should debut the uniforms against Oregon – making for a nice little Nike vs. Adidas duel. Unfortunately, this season’s matchup is at Autzen Stadium in Eugene and UCLA and Adidas are unlikely to launch their big reveal at an away game.
Would be interesting if UCLA became Adidas’ flagship program for creative uniform design in the same scope as Nike for Oregon. Not only would it foster a friendly competition that inspires innovation by both companies, the added element of conference rivals would give it that extra hint of spice.
Either way, looking fresh, Bruins.
