SMU ended up losing to Rutgers 55-52 in OT, but this two-point conversion by the Mustangs deserves the credit it’s due. Garrett Gilbert [yeah the Garrett Gilbert who was thrown into the BCS championship as a wide-eye freshman when Colt McCoy was taken out by Alabama] scrambles for 11 seconds in the backfield before finding Jeremy Johnson’s chalk-dusted toes to send the game to OT. Johnson had 18 catches for 217 and three trips to the end zone, while Gilbert set a school record with 484 yards and seven total TDs.
