Villanova walked into the Big East Tournament as the bracket’s #1 seed and the nation’s #3 overall, but they walked out with a disappointing quarterfinal loss to Seton Hall on Thursday afternoon.
After finishing with their first Big East regular season title in eight years, a sick stepback buzzer-beater from Seton Hall’s Sterling Gibbs knocked the heavily-favored Wildcats out of the tournament and dashed their dreams of their first Big East tournament championship in almost 20 years.
Though Nova will still be in good shape come time for the NCAA tournament, Thursday’s loss will cost them a No.1 seed in The Big Dance.
Welcome to March, baby.
