After Oregon blew out Florida State University at the Rose Bowl, several Oregon players were caught on camera chanting “no means no,” a reference to FSU quarterback Jameis Winston’s sexual assault allegations, while they also performed the Tomahawk chop.
Oregon certainly had every right to celebrate their decisive 59-20 victory but mocking Winston’s highly publicized cases took things a step too far for the Ducks. The team plans to discipline the offending players internally.
“We are aware of the inappropriate behavior in the postgame,” head coach Mark Helfrich said in a statement released by Oregon on Thursday night. “This is not what our program stands for, and the student-athletes will be disciplined internally.”
According to a report by ESPN, sophomore linebacker Torrodney Prevot and freshman Kani Benoit are both clearly seen performing the chant. Other videos reportedly show more players joining in as well.
Oregon will face Ohio State in the national championship game on January 12th.
